ABOUT

As an adolescent, I had a clear vision that I wanted to devote my career to the field of psychology.  I was inspired by a psychotherapist who helped me through my parents' divorce. I was struggling, and I needed an impartial, compassionate guide to help me grieve, gain insight about my emotions, and learn to communicate differently with my family.  It was such a gift that I knew I wanted to help others in the same way.

I began working as a psychotherapist in my early twenties, and I have devoted my life to service. My 25+ years in the field have enabled me to become a highly experienced, well-rounded therapist. I have worked in settings treating people with severe mental illness, teens in residential treatment centers and schools, and as an administrator in a non-profit mental health organization. I have simultaneously maintained a private practice treating individuals, families, and couples in Beverly Hills, Calabasas, and San Luis Obispo over the span of my career. As a result of these experiences, I was approached to become a Clinical Supervisor who acts as a master therapist training the next generation of therapists. I was entrusted with training graduate students from USC, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, CSUN, and Phillips Graduate Institute. I received great fulfillment from mentoring therapists in training and teaching workshops on special topics for local universities and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) in the Los Angeles area.

In 2010, I began exploring the mind-body connection and trained as a meditation and yoga instructor earning my RYT-200 hour certification. I took courses at the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC), and I became certified in the Neuro Emotional Technique for stress reduction. I have traveled the world learning from prominant teachers from Sikh, Buddhist, and mindfulness communities. In 2017, I relocated to the beautiful Central Coast of California.  The pandemic caused me to transition to providing telehealth services, and it was an unexpected positive change that I have continued to embrace allowing me to work with clients throughout the state of California. As an addition to my offerings as a psychotherapist, I currently teach weekly in-person meditation classes and periodic workshops in Morro Bay to assist people with implementing wellness skills into their daily lives.

I see life as a series of transitions and developmental cycles. We move through some gracefully and others bring confusion and crisis. During phases of change, it's common to get stuck in the pain of disappointment, anger, overwhelm, and grief. Over the years, layers of unresolved pain build and eventually interfere with our ability to feel joyful, creative, and fulfilled.  Relationships with family and friends, energy for work and daily commitments, and the vital connection to the true self suffer tremendously.

Psychotherapy provides an opportunity to learn to think and behave in new ways enabling us to rise to the challenges that life presents. I currently provide telehealth therapy to individual adults and couples utilizing all the best practices blending my years of study in psychology, neuroscience, somatic work, meditation, and mindfulness. I am committed to providing compassionate, competent care with sensitivity to cultural, racial, religious, and sexual diversity.  My years of expertise and warm, direct approach help clients make peace with the past, be present in the now, and feel more optimistic about the future.
